[CD Packaging] Koda Kumi - Bon Voyage (CD+Blu-ray)

Soooo due to very embarrassing reasons my 5-year-old PC has overheated and subsequently died so I was not able to plug my 7-year-old digital camera (also embarrassing) in and import photos (and since it's so damn ancient, I can't simply import them to my MacBook either) so y'all will have to deal with my shitty iPhone photos for now.

[CD Packaging] Superfly - Superfly BEST (2CD+DVD First Press)

I've always loved J-ho Shiho's use of cardboard paper (or whatever material that is) in her album packagings, and this one is no exception. I even love the smell of it. I can smell it all day, but that's just being weird.

The whole thing is also reaaaally thick as well

Le contents - the booklet and digipak containing the discs

Pretty standard but I'm liking the art direction of the album a lot, what with the collage and all which actually shows some effort.

[CD Packaging] Perfume - LEVEL3 (CD+DVD)

I was hoping to actually get the version with the red jewel case but I'm just glad I didn't get the ugliest one (i.e. yellow case lol ewwewewewewe)

I quite like the way the album is packaged, with the jewel case only using clear plastic films inside without really trying too hard to be different *cough*kanyewest*cough*

The booklet itself is separate and behind the jewel case, both of which are housed in the slipcase. The jewel case is the slightly thicker kind, too.

The insert for the front cover yielded a little surprise as well! Pretty cool, but I was immediately drowning in regret as I would discover that my floor was actually a little dusty, thus leaving some particles glued onto the sheets. Oopsie.

[CD Packaging] JASMINE - Complexxx (CD+DVD)

Step back, everybody, because JASMINE is signalling us to not fuck with her, because she's gonna take over the world.

Lol, who am I kidding, she's not. But this has got to be like one of the hottest covers we've seen this year. Serving me fierceness even though they clearly only started conceptualising the album from High Flying because only from that single onwards was there actual, visual consistency in her releases.

The X in the background is actually tin-foiled but the camera's flash blocks that out. The spine of the slipcase is also tin-foiled! Eye-catchingue.

[CD Packaging] Koda Kumi - Summer Trip (CD+DVD) + JASMINE - HERO

I received a bunch of CDs while I was away for the few months so you've probably seen how the packagings look like already, but I'm gonna post them up anyway! Don't you like how the entire Summer Trip single just radiates tackiness already?

[CD Packaging] Perfume - Magic of Love (CD+DVD)

I've overthought once again. When I first saw the covers I thought they'd be coming in a fancy transparent plastic slipcase with the grey bits printed on it but noOOOooOOOooo just your usual affair, just like Perfume's music.

[CD Packaging] JASMINE - High Flying

I was looking at the picture of JASMINE signing them limited edition copies and hoping they'd be packaged in a slim digipak but turns out I was wrooooooong. Not complaining because an autographed copy is still an autographed copy, which also makes you wonder how she managed to sit her ass down for 10 years to sign all 2000 copies with the same damn signature. I'd probably write crap like "I am STILL the next Utada baby" or "I wrote this song when I was on crack"

[CD Packaging] Namie Amuro - Big Boys Cry / Beautiful

They sure know how to go hard or go home - not only does the cover of the single reek of 90s Namie, but they even packaged it back into what was once her usual slimline jewel cases. They should've just gone the extra mile to make this an 8cm single release.

[CD Packaging] Koda Kumi - Color the Cover (CD+DVD Limited Edition)

Got my copy of the CD+DVD limited edition of Koda Cum-i's Kuuler the Kuuuverrr.

The front and back comes in a matte finishing which is awesomeeee cuz I thought it'd be printed in those grainy thick recycled paper-like shit lmao

[CD Packaging] ayumi hamasaki - LOVE again (CD+Blu-ray Limited Edition)

After an extremely long wait (it was the Chinese New Year rush over here) I finally received my copy of the CD+Blu-ray+GOODS edition of ayumi hotmessaki's LOVE again. Which comes with an ayu-pan figurine and a photobook. At least for the first time in a loooong time we're not getting weird shit like coasters and cups.

[CD Packaging] Mika Nakashima - REAL (CD+DVD)

I received my copy of Mika Nakashima's latest album some time last week! Comes in pretty much the same packaging as all of her past albums with the slipcase and slightly thicker 2CD jewel case. The paper they used for printing is glossy as fuck and I love it

Jewel case cover - looks like someone farted

Back covers

The stunningly beautiful picture behind the disc trays. The CD is her typical white design so I didn't show it in the picture.

Comes with some REAL bookmark thing and an insert of her discography.

I'm just so impressed with the photoshoot for this album. Mika Nakashima looks flawless! The album is also rather well-received from what I've heard so far so the review will be coming up soon!

[CD Packaging] ayumi hamasaki - A Classical

The pencil-drawn cover actually kinda looks better in person. Doesn't make it any less of a lazy effort though.

[CD Packaging] Kaela Kimura - Sync (CD+DVD)

I didn't think I'd be buying Kaela Kimura's Sync this fast because I wanted to wait until it's on discount on CDJapan. Then who would have thought that they'd put this on 20% discount during their New Year's sale from 1 - 3 Jan? Score! Talk about a slap in the face for buyers who bought it before that it's almost like what avex did with Ayu's LOVE again.

[CD Packaging] ayumi hamasaki - again

I just received my copy yesterday probably due to the Christmas rush or something. Urgh but yay

Once ~*again*~ it's packaged in a thicker 2CD jewel case just like LOVE.

Ayu subtly acknowledging her fans with foot fetishes

And yea, basically boring shit like that. The disc art itself is sleep-inducing.

[CD Packaging] ayumi hamasaki - LOVE

Thanks to the post office for holding my package hostage, I received my copy of ayumi hotmessaki's latest single disguised as a mini-album a little later than usual but yay here it is!

Everyone knows I'm a very deep and analytical person *cough* so with this release I can conclude that avex is beginning their budget cuts with Ayu's releases because this is the first Ayu CD+DVD release that does not come in those thick-as-hell jewel cases! Blasphemy! Though it's a good thing that these can save space and all. Interesting to note that the jewel case for this release is actually slightly thicker, like a 2CD version of A Song for XX. Pretty stupid because the booklet is thin as fuuuuu

Jewel case is slightly thicker than the norm

Overall... average meh packaging so there you go. Booklet is really lame too because there's only 3 pictures inside and all 3 look almost the same. Annoying. Review will be coming up soon!

[CD Packaging] Superfly - Force (5th Anniversary Edition)

I also received my ginormous copy of the limited 5th anniversary edition of Superfly's latest album, Force!!

Basically the entire album is packaged like a vinyl LP

Upon opening it! The right side houses the 2 CDs of the limited 2CD edition. On the left side there's a slit that has everything else:

A vinyl copy of the album, the lyric booklet and a neat fold-out poster! Too bad there aren't really other pictures to see but I'm fine with it.

So far I've only listened to Force (the song) and I think it's fucking ace. I'll probably listen to the album over the next few days and come up with my review. I also just found out that the album beat out SKE48 on the Oricon Charts and got #1 weekly! Woohoo! Too bad her sales really are declining though, because her first week sales are only 119k. Still doing decent for a female soloist though so I'm happy nonetheless!

[CD Packaging] Perfume - Perfume Global Compilation "LOVE THE WORLD" (CD+DVD)

I received my copy of Perfume's latest compilation album in the mail while I was in China but now I'm back!

I actually just realised that this compilation album is being released under their previous label, Tokuma Japan, so in other words this release is pretty much their last opportunity to milk what used to be one of their top selling acts. Awwwww so sad

Packaging is pretty typical and somewhat pathetic, but it's not like anyone's expecting much with covers looking like that.

I quite enjoy the remixed MY COLOR and Chocolate Disco though, especially MY COLOR's.

Perfume will also be performing right here in Singapore on 24th November and the tickets go on sale this weekend!!! I'm not sure if I'm going to get the VIP Tickets or just general admission ones because I'm broke, but I'm definitely going to see them anyway!

[CD Packaging] Perfume - Spending all my time (CD+DVD)

Here are packaging pictures for the CD+DVD edition of Perfume's latest single, Spending all my time!

I would also like to add that the paper quality used for the slipcase, inserts and everything feels pretty shit.

This marks the first Perfume release to be released under their own sub-label, Perfume Records.

And of course, the single has certainly proven that Yasukata Nakata has what it takes to become the best songwriter in the world!

Lol

Anyway, CDJapan also gave out posters as an external bonus and tada:

The posters are matte and the paper is REALLY thick. As you can see even CDs cannot hold it down completely.

And that's it! Hali bali pali, juicy juicy sweetie

[CD Packaging] ayumi hamasaki - A SUMMER BEST (2CD+DVD)

Just collected my copy of ayumi hamasaki's A SUMMER BEST (2CD+DVD) yesterday at the post office!

Was quite disappointed to see that the jewel case used is different from NEXT LEVEL's 2CD+DVD one because I preferred that. That's just me though, because I like to call this type of jewel case the "do-nails" casing because of the annoying lines on top and below it.

Sad to say, as in typical Ayu fashion, they have once again chosen the wrong pictures for the 2CD cover. Don't believe me? Bam:

and bam:

MmmmMMMmmmMMmmm.
